# Nolimit Views — releases
This repository holds released builds only. The source lives in a private
repository; this one exists so a WordPress site can check for and download an
update without needing any credentials.
## Install
Download `nolimit-views.zip` from the latest release, then in wp-admin:
**Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin**.
After the first install the plugin updates itself from here — it reads the
latest release on this repository and offers it on Dashboard → Updates like any
other plugin.
## What it is
Saved, named views of the WooCommerce product list — and catalog visibility as
a column and a filter, which the product list has never had.
A shop accumulates products that are not simply "for sale": kept back for
manual orders, meant only for trade customers, kept alive so an old order still
points at something. WooCommerce supports all of it through post status,
catalog visibility and categories, and then shows almost none of it on the
screen you actually work from. Catalog visibility decides whether a product
appears on the shop at all, and it is set behind a small "Edit" link on the
product screen — with no column, no filter and nothing in quick edit to tell
you afterwards. On the shop this was built for, nineteen of the thirty live
products were hidden from the catalog and no screen in wp-admin said so.
Three things, and it invents nothing:
- **A Visibility column**, next to SKU, showing which of WooCommerce's four
states each product is in, and whether it is featured.
- **A visibility and featured filter** in the filter row, beside category and
product type. It combines correctly with the filters already there.
- **Saved views** — name a combination of filters and it appears in the row of
links above the list, beside All, Published and Trash. Yours by default, or
shared with everybody who can edit products.
There is also a screen under **Products → Saved views** that counts the
catalogue by status and by visibility, freshly every time it is opened.
**No new labelling layer.** Every view is built from fields WordPress and
WooCommerce already fill in. A plugin that asks you to tag thirty products
before it does anything is a plugin nobody uses twice.
**It never writes to a product.** It reads status, visibility, categories and
tags. Deleting it takes its saved views with it and nothing else — your
products are untouched.
## What leaves the server
There is **no telemetry**, and here that is the whole list rather than the
first item on one: this plugin makes exactly one request to anybody, ever — to
this repository, to see whether there is a newer version — and it carries
nothing about the site. No account, no analytics, no upsell, and nothing to
switch off.
## Requires
WordPress 5.9 or newer, PHP 7.4 or newer, and **WooCommerce 6.0 or newer**.
Without WooCommerce there is no product list, and the plugin registers nothing
at all rather than failing.
Part of the **Nolimit** family, which shares one menu in wp-admin: Nolimit
Security, Nolimit Cache, Nolimit Assistant, Nolimit Discounts, Nolimit
Subscriptions, Nolimit SEO and Nolimit Views.
